"We forgot what peace and quiet was until we came here! Thanks for a great week and the cream tea was fantastic."
Two characterful self-catering holiday cottages, one part of a 16th Century Grade 2 listed Medieval Devon Hall House and the other a detached barn conversion. Touching the edge of Dartmoor National Park and only a 15 minute stroll up to one of Devon’s most famous landmarks, the 1100ft high, 13th century Brentor Church, Monkstone makes the perfect holiday base for exploring Devon and Cornwall.

Situated at the end of a private drive and surrounded by lush countryside and spectacular moorland, peace and quiet is assured. Five minutes in the car takes you to the National Trust beauty spot of Lydford Gorge or to the thriving market town of Tavistock with its bustling Pannier Market and specialist local food shops, sample the Devon cream teas and pasties.

Easy access to the north and south coasts with beautiful sandy beaches and coastal walks.

  • Finished to a high standard throughout, both cottages have level access with secure off road parking
  • Dog friendly with enclosed gardens, a meadow for exercising dogs and moorland walks straight out from the cottage
  • In Winter the woodburning stove is perfect to come back to after a day exploring Dartmoor
  • In Summer relax in the private garden amidst a riot of colour and watch the fabulous sunsets over the moors enjoying the silence of the countryside
  • Sample the many local pubs and award winning restaurants
  • Enjoy car free days out with the local bus service into Plymouth or take the local train with stunning views over the Tamar Valley
  • Monkstone is on Route 27 Cycle way, with cycle hire. The nearby Granite Way, Tarka Trail and Drakes Trail offer easy cycling along entirely traffic free former railways and paths
  • Ideal activity break with pony trekking, golf and gilding just 5 mins
  • A good base for visiting many famous gardens, including Eden, Lost Gardens of Heligan, The Garden House and many famous National Trust Houses
